You may have seen some news about the hyperloop lately but what is it exactly?

Basically it’s the high speed transportation of passengers and goods in partially or fully evacuated tubes otherwise called pneumatic tube transportation systems. People and goods would be transported in a pressurized capsule inside a low pressure tube driven by linear induction and air compressors. You are basically riding on air. The technology has been developing rapidly in the last few years. The low pressure tube is the key in reducing friction and providing high speeds from minimal energy expenditures.

Elon Musk is considering a hyperloop track that would run from LA to San Francisco. Imagine riding inside your car or a pod going 600 MPH. You could do the 350 mile trip in 35 minutes!

The link below will give a demonstration of a model considered in Abu Dhabi. This could give high speed rail a run for their money.
