The challenge for using the vast resource of ocean water and converting to potable drinking water has been cost. The cost has been directly attributed to the amount of energy it takes to desalinate ocean water. Researchers from Rice University have come up with an ingenious way to use Solar Power to reduce the amount of energy necessary during the desalination process.
