Study finds big savings in removing dams over repairs

This is an interesting study that may draw more questions than answers. The aging dam infrastructure in the US opens up the issue of removing the dams versus rehabilitating them. Over the past 40 years over 1,000 dams have been removed for safety issues. The benefits of flood control, hydro electricity and water supply need to be factored into the equation. It’s not a simple cost benefit comparison.
